Is it good to give CBD oil to dogs?

In a research conducted by the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, it was shown that dogs that received CBD twice daily for a month at a dose of 4.4 mg per pound significantly improved in terms of pain alleviation and quality of life.

Is it OK to give your dog CBD every day?

Yes, it is okay to give your dog CBD every day. Your dog can get daily dosages of CBD oil, while some dogs respond better to numerous daily doses.

What Dosage of CBD Oil Should I Give My Dog?

You should know that CBD oil for dogs dosage can vary on different variables such as:
  • Age
  • Weight
  • Fatigue
  • Diet
  • Ailment
  • Previous Medication

You will see that there are several choices for dose and size when searching to get high-quality CBD oil for dogs, in addition to features like wide and full spectrum CBD to help with things such as behavior, pain and allergies.

Let's tackle dose first, and then we'll discuss wide vs. full spectrum CBD. We can help you understand how much pet CBD oil to feed your dog, even if it initially seems complicated.

Calculate Your Dosage Of CBD Oil Drops

how to calculate dosage of cbd oil for pets like horses and dogs

If you're considering using CBD to support your pet's health, it's important to find the right dosage. Dosing CBD for pets can be a bit trickier than for humans, as it's not always easy to know how much your pet weighs or how much CBD they need.

To make it easier for you, we offer four different bottles of CBD oil, each with a different concentration of CBD. Our dosage recommendations are one full dropper per day, which makes measurement and proper application a breeze.

Our 125mg bottle is suitable for pets weighing less than 25lbs, while our 250mg bottle is suitable for pets weighing between 25-50lbs. For pets weighing over 50lbs, we recommend using our 500mg bottle, and for pets who need extra support, we recommend using our extra strength 1000mg bottle.

Each bottle comes with a dropper that holds 1mL of oil, and the amount of CBD in each dose will depend on the size of the bottle you choose. For example, if you're using our 125mg bottle, each dropper will contain roughly 4.2mg of CBD. If you're using our 250mg bottle, each dropper will contain roughly 8.3mg of CBD. Similarly, our 500mg and 1000mg bottles contain roughly 16.7mg and 33.4mg of CBD per dropper, respectively.

It's important to keep in mind that these are general guidelines, and the right dosage for your pet will depend on their size, age, and the specific health concerns you're looking to address with CBD. Every pet is unique and may require less OR more CBD to get the desired effect. If your pet is new to CBD, we recommend starting with half the recommended amount and then increase from there. Your pet may respond well to 50% of the recommended amount. However, if you do not notice a change, you can increase the dose to the full, recommended amount.

In the case that your pet requires more CBD, it is perfectly acceptable to increase the amount of CBD given. However, you will want to do so slowly over time. For instance, if our 5lb pet is not responding to 5mg of CBD, then we would recommend increasing the amount by 50% the following day. Meaning, the 5lb pet would receive 7.5mg of CBD. You can continue to increase the amount until you see the desired effects.

It's always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian before starting your pet on a CBD regimen, as they can provide you with personalized dosage recommendations based on your pet's needs.

If you and your veterinarian decide to investigate CBD as a treatment for your dog, there are a few things to keep in mind when purchasing CBD oil. Not all oils are created equal; for a better chance of success, choose high-quality CBD oil. You can consider organic. If the CBD oil is not organic, it should at the very least be free of solvents, fungicides, and pesticides. Shop without regard to price alone. Higher grade and purity are typically more expensive. A less expensive solution can include poisonous ingredients like pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals. Make sure there are no additions in your CBD oil. A certificate certifying the amount of CBD included in the product should be provided by the manufacturer. Only trace levels of CBD are included in many CBD products. Additionally, you want to confirm that the product has little to no THC. Purchase CBD liquid. While CBD-containing dog treats are available, oils or tinctures work best for administration. You can change your dog's medication in this manner, drop by drop. You may buy the highest-quality CBD products on the market from Honest Paws.
